As a first time blogger my recommendation is that you don’t spend hours setting up your blog. You can get started blogging in less than 10 minutes by starting a new blog at WordPress.com or Blogger.com. In the long run this probably isn’t the best option, but if you’re just getting started blogging this is a solution that will work just fine for your purposes. In fact, if you already have a gmail account you can use that for your blogger.com account as well. Talk about easy setup!

When promoting your blog basic SEO is a concern. If you’re using a free blogging platform you need to make sure that you put the keywords that are related to your blog in the headline. Also be sure to use your keyword phrase two or three times in the text. Just to clarify a keyword phrase is the search term you would enter into a search engine like Google to find your text. There’s something that’s more important than keywords and SEO when it comes to blogging though! Make sure you update your blog on a regular basis so that the search engines and the visitors have a reason to return to your blog.

How To Get Into Professional Blogging

Making money with fresh content and blogging is hard work. There, I said it! Blogging can be a lot of fun and I personally enjoy it very much, however, that does not change the fact that coming up with fresh content on a consistent basis is hard work! You have to approach blogging in a professional manner if you want any chance at all of being successful with your blog you need to plan your blogging. If it is at all possible I would recommend setting anywhere between 30 minutes and an hour aside each day to keep your blog updated. If that’s not possible there are other options though.

Improve Your Blogging Income With Fresh Content

If you don’t have time to update your blog post on a daily basis you can still be making money with fresh content. The key is outsourcing! I guess revenue sharing would be a more accurate term for the plan I have in mind. This is something Britt Malka knows a lot about and she has outlined her entire method in her “Fresh’N’Free Unique Content System” product. If you don’t have the time to write content for your blog every day this is an extremely viable option. The product itself is only $17 and well worth that measly price if you ask me!

The beauty of using Google docs is that as long as you have a working Internet connection you have your notes close by. This is great for writing small notes and keeping track of your ideas while you are travelling or at work or something similar. In fact, with cell phone technology and the mobile version of Google docs it is easy to keep your notes updated at all times.

Deciding Which Ideas To Use For Future Product Creation

Generally I go by the rule that no idea is so bad that it shouldn’t be written down. That does not mean that all ideas will turn into future product, but by writing them down the brain will start working in overdrive and help you develop more and potentially even better ideas! The fact is that allowing your ideas, even the bad ones, to run through your mind will give you a ton of new ideas. When it’s time to decide on which idea to turn into a product you shouldn’t pick the idea you think is the best one. You would pick the one with the best marketing potential! Don’t pick an idea you hate though, pick one of the ideas that you really like, but make sure it has a viable marketing potential.

The reason I love using Google docs for this is that I can always access it, either through my computer or through my cell phone. That makes Google docs another tool from Google I can’t live without!

See, about a month ago I vowed that I would have a brand new ebook ready for release by the end of November. That’s a project that has stalled a fair bit in the past couple of weeks.

That’s not acceptable!

So, yes I will release a new ebook by the first of December. It’s not going to be about social bookmarking though and it will have an accompanying video. The release date will be Tuesday next week.

You see I love Twitter and I do use Twitter to drive a fair amount of traffic to this blog. I use the excellent WP to Twitter plug-in to do that and it’s working great so far. However, due to the special nature of Twitter I have recently been wondering if there is a way for me to attract even more attention to my blog update tweets.

As you know, Twitter only allows you 140 characters per tweet!

There are only so many words you can get into 140 characters. Sort of reminds me of something…

Yeah you guessed it! Headlines!

What’s the difference between a tweet and a headline? Really, when it comes down to it is there a difference?

The more I think about it I come to believe that the difference is minuscule. So doesn’t that mean that there is potentially a lot to gain by thinking of your tweets in terms of headlines? That’s my theory anyway.

So I did a Digg search to see what came up when I searched for the term “writing headlines” and one article in particular caught my attention. This is a CopyBlogger post called “7 More Sure-Fire Headline Templates That Work.” This blog post has a companion article, as the title suggests, and I highly recommend that you check it out as well.

The main point of this post though is the following. The power of headlines have intrigued me for a long, long time so this is something I will definitely do some research on in the near future. The fact is that the headline is what draws the reader in. So, the question is can you use a template to harness that power or do you have to get creative?

My guess is that the truth lies somewhere in between, but without proper research I can’t be sure. However, whether you decide to use the templates described on CopyBlogger or not take the time to read the article (and it’s companion) I found them well worth the read.

Time management to the rescue?

Well, if I was any good at it. So time to start educating myself, and if you’re in the same bad situation, I guess this is a good time to educate yourself as well. I found a free e-book called “Time Management for Creative People” by Mark McGuinness. I’ve skimmed through it a couple of times and I have already been able to extract a couple of very good pointers. Something I can start applying right now!

Mainly, I’m going to start taking a hard look at what tasks I end up prioritizing, and I’m going to set aside a couple of hours as “me time”, but it’s not all done with that. I will have to throuroughly read through the book and take all the advice, I can from it.

If you have the same issues, I can only encourage you to do the same. It’s totally free and there is no opt-in or anything like that. So go read it and enjoy.

For the past couple of weeks, I’ve been listening to the audio on my way to and from work. On a side note, I have to say I was surprised that listening to audio in your car was such a great way to learn new stuff. Anyway, the CDs have been on rotation in my car ever since I made the purchase and I now feel I have a fairly good understanding of the system.

First of all, let me make it clear that this system is not about using unethical methods to get high rankings in the search engines, there is nothing “black hat” about it. On the contrary, it is all about working with Google to get the best results. Perry Belcher has spent more than $7.000.000 of his own money on Google Ads in the last calendar year and made even more money in the process. That means he has a fairly good Idea what he’s talking about.

I’m now ready to embark on my own Get Money From Google journey and have decided to let you all in on the process. My next prost will be about my initial market research so hang tight!

First, let me tell you about how I use keyword research in my article writing. Whenever I write an article or a blog post for that matter I base it on a keyword phrase. I prefer long tail keywords with a decent search volume and as little competition as possible. That’s where this approach comes in handy.

In my opinion the best keyword research tool you can get is absolutely free. I realize there are plenty of keyword tools on the market like Wordtracker, Keyword Elite and so on, but personally I always use the Google external keyword tool. It’s free and it has all the options I want it to have.

Let us for a moment assume that I plan to write an article on golf. I then type my main keyword golf into the Google external keyword tool like this:

Of course I’m now getting a ton of results. To refine these results I pick some good long tail keywords. By the way if you don’t know I’ll just add that long tail keywords are keyword phrases with 3 or more words in them.

Some of the keywords I picked have a bit too much competition so I’d like to refine my search a bit. I do that by first deleting golf from the search field and then press on the “Get more related keywords button. This is what happens to the search field when I’ve done that:

Now you have to press the “Get keyword ideas” button again to get your refined results.

As you can see I now get a refined list of long tail keywords, The beauty is that if I’m not happy with my list I can do it over and over again. This has become my favorite feature of the Google external keyword tool and I hope you can see how powerful this can be.

On the other hand, there is also a lot of awful software that really isn’t worth its salt and definitely not worth your money. Trust me on this. You really want to make sure you make the right investments to further your article writing career. Well, the good news is that this post will explore some of the software available on the market today. Listen, I wont be able to go through all the software that is available, but the software I recommend will be article writing software, I use on a daily basis.

Different Types Of Article Writing Software

Article writing software isn’t just article writing software. On any given day, I use software for article research and article writing. Some software I consider essential to my business. However, other software is utility software that you can easily do without. There are also areas I personally feel doesn’t have the maturity or need for specific software, but I’ll get to that.

Article Research Software

The problem? Every minute spent researching your article is time you don’t spend writing your article. And that means your article writing process will be longer, which in turn means it will take longer to finish your article. Well, the good news is that there is plenty of software that can help you. The bad news is that I don’t think any of the software is really that good.

This kind of software usually revolves around making online searches and scraping the content from other sites. Although the developers do stress that it is to be used as research software the way it functions, in my opinion, encourages plagiarism.

Anyway, if I do have to make a recommendation I would probably recommend Instant Article Wizard by Jonathan Leger. It’s really easy to use and the pro version even gives you entire paragraphs on a search term. If you do decide to purchase this kind of software remember to rewrite the paragraphs. Plagiarism is a big no no!

Article Writing Software

This is software that will help you actually write the article. What you need to remember here is that we’re basically talking about text editors, so if you go and purchase anything labeled “Article Writing Software” you need to be absolutely certain that you get something special.

You know what I use to write articles? Notepad!

Yep, Notepad is my favorite article writing software. Notepad is my favorite article writing software not only because it comes with my computer, but more importantly it has everything I need in a text editor.

In my opinion, the second best article writing software is Content Composer, developed by Jason Potash. It’s a bit on the expensive side of things, but it has some very cool functions. It makes it very easy for you to ensure that your article live up to your clients SEO requirements and the latest update even added article research features. In addition to that it has built in article spinning functionality.

However, if you don’t want to go out and spend close to 300 bucks you will do just fine using Notepad.

I realize that these recommendations may seem a bit vague, but I’m not going to tell you to rush out and by some expensive piece of software if you can do just as well with a free alternative.

The site he recommended was www.mindomo.com. This site provides totally free mind mapping software. They do have a paid version that has more features than the free version, but for my needs at least the free version is more than adequate. As far as I can tell the main difference between the free and the paid version is in the export functions. You can’t use some of the more advanced export functions in the free version, but I can live with the free options. In the free version you can export to an image, a text file or a rich text file.

So do you really need mind mapping software anyway?

Well, you can get by without it, but I would highly recommend some way to keep your thoughts organized. I like using mind maps to do that. Actually I consider the mind mapping process to be the most important step in my writing. By using mind maps I can prepare an entire ebook in a couple of hours. I can use it to break the ebook into sections, chapters and even paragraphs. When the mind map is done all I have to do is fill in the blanks. That’s right the mind map means that I just have to connect the dots.

What seemed to be the most exhaustive part of creating the ebook has now become the easiest thing in the world. If I can write between 200 and 500 words for each item on my mind map I’ll have a decently sized ebook in no time. Writing a 200 to 500 word piece is a far less challenging task than having to write an entire ebook at once.

Anyway. Try it. It’s free and it can be an awesome tool.
