Blogging Add commentsWhat kind of website do you like to read? A website where the owner is obviously proud of his fancy vocabulary? Or a website where the owner is down to earth and relatable? That’s an easy question to answer right? Well, let me ask you this question. Which category is your blog?
The first time you start a blog it’s a momentous occasion, but also one filled with insecurity. Will people like your blog? That’s a question that burns in the minds of many first time bloggers. Don’t let it! What most first time bloggers will do to compensate for their insecurities is exactly what they should avoid, and it’s something that can make potential regular visitors run and never look back!
So, before I share my number one content writing tip let me just ease your mind. This is as easy to do as it gets!
The number one tip is this: write like you talk!
You may have a PHD in rocket science, but unless your blog is about that topic nobody cares! People read blogs for these reasons:
- To learn something.
- To entertain themselves.
- To socialize.
Showing off your vocabulary isn’t going to make you many friends. The simple fact is that people who read blogs want to read things they can relate to. So, write content that people actually want to read! The key is to write your blog content in your own voice. Don’t try to change the way you write just because you think that’s what people want to hear!
