Quick Article Writing Tips

Articles Add comments

Let’s face it. Getting started on a new article is always the hardest part of article writing. Once you get started the rest is easy enough. Right? Well, it should be, at least if you get started the right way. My advice is structure. You’ve heard me say this before, but it remains one of my key points on article writing.

Here is the specific methodology I use when writing an article.

What Do You Want To Get Across In Your Article?

Not only do you need to know what the topic of your article is going to be, you also need to have a pretty good idea of the point you want to get across to your readers. Think about it. If you don’t know what message you want to get through to your readers your article isn’t going to be very coherent.

How Do You Want To Say It?

However, you also need to think about how you want to get your message across. Listen closely. There are several different ways to structure your article. Do you want to write a how to article, a top ten article or another type of article. That’s something you should define before you start typing anything at all.

Creating The Article Outline In A Minute

Trust me on this. This is the most important step in article writing. You probably have a topic or a keyword by now. And, you have a pretty good Idea what kind of article you want to write. Now what you have to do is take a blank piece of paper or a text editor and write down 10 questions, headlines, facts or points of interest about the topic or keyword. You don’t necessarily need ten points, but if you have a specific word count you need to reach more is better.

This is, simply put, the outline of your article. You may want to move your points around to make the order more logical, but that’s entirely your call.

Writing The Article In Less Than 20 Minutes

If you’ve done everything by the book so far you will have written your article in 20 minutes. How can I promise you that? Well, I can because the rest of the process is so easy you won’t believe it. What you have to do is write 3-5 sentences about each of the 10 points you created in the last section. When you’ve done that you’ve written your article.

Checking Facts And Other Research Bits And Bobs

You know, we haven’t done a lot of research so far. And, we are not going to spend hours doing so. However, at this stage you need to reread your article a couple of times. First of all, you need to make sure that it makes sense. Secondly, you need to check if there are any factual issues in your article. If there are correct them either by removing them from the article or by getting the facts straight.
